By moving day the packing decisions are made. What's left is sequencing — and a good sequence is the difference between finishing at 2pm and finishing at 9pm.
Label by room, not contents
Write the destination room in large letters on two sides of every bin. Whoever carries it should know where it goes without asking. Contents lists slow the load down and you'll open everything within a week anyway.
Load in this order
- Furniture and mattresses first, along the walls.
- Heavy bins next, on the floor, pushed tight.
- Light and fragile bins on top.
- Essentials bin last, by the door, so it comes off first.

Keep an essentials bin
- Chargers, a power bar and a lamp.
- Toilet paper, hand soap, paper towel, garbage bags.
- Coffee, snacks and water.
- Basic tools, scissors, tape, medication.
Different coloured lid? Use it for the essentials bin so it's spottable in a stack.
The first hour at the new place
- Beds assembled before anything else — that decision at midnight is already made.
- Bathroom set up next.
- Kitchen third: kettle, coffee, a couple of plates.
- Everything else can wait for daylight.
Then hand the bins back
Stack empties by the door as you unpack and request pickup for a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. We collect them and clean them — no flattening, no recycling depot, no cardboard pile in the garage.
Common questions
What should I unpack first after moving?
Beds, then the bathroom, then a minimal kitchen. Getting those three done means you can stop for the day whenever you need to.
How long do I keep the moving bins?
As long as you need. The first week is $5 per bin and each extra week is $1.50 per bin, billed weekly until you request pickup.
Do I need to clean the bins before returning them?
No. Just empty them. We wash and sanitize every bin before it goes out on the next rental.
