Apartment moving guide for Hamilton and Burlington
5 min read
Apartment moves live or die on logistics. The packing is smaller than a house move, but the building rules, elevator windows and parking make timing everything.
Book the building first
- Reserve the service elevator at both buildings — many require two weeks' notice.
- Ask about loading dock hours and whether a certificate of insurance is needed.
- Confirm where the truck can legally park, and how far the walk is.
- Check whether your building restricts move-ins on weekends.
Why bins move faster in a building
Identical, stackable bins load onto a dolly four high and roll straight into the elevator. Mixed cardboard sizes don't stack squarely, tip in transit, and take extra trips. On a timed elevator booking, that difference is real.
Two people with a dolly and stacked bins can clear a 1 bedroom in about three elevator runs.
